Philippa Waite is well known as a performer and teacher of Baroque dance. She studied with Wendy Hilton and taught for her at the annual Baroque Music and Dance Workshops at Stanford University, USA. Philippa is currently guest teacher of Period Movement and Dance at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff, and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She is Artistic Director of Consort de Danse Baroque and as such choreographs in the Baroque style for the company's productions; she also teaches, performs and gives lecture-demonstrations throughout the UK and abroad.
As a choreographer and reconstructor of historical dance, Philippa offers Period Movement and Dance workshops to schools, colleges, universities, conservatoires, musicians and theatre/opera companies, and is available as a consultant/choreographer for theatre, opera, television and film productions.
Consort de Danse Baroque is a historical dance company offering performances, lecture-demonstrations, school workshops, and an annual summer school held in Cardiff, South Wales, as well as regular classes in Baroque and historical dance around the UK and abroad.

Workshop as a part of the 6th International days of Baroque dance in Potsdam:
Choreographing in the Baroque Style: Group dances, for experienced dancers
For experienced Baroque Dancers, the workshop will look at 2 contrasting dances, choreographed by Philippa Waite, chosen from a variety of dance rhythms such as Rigaudon, Gigue, Passepied, Sarabande or Menuett to music by popular Baroque composers such as Telemann, Muffat, Campra and Purcell. The workshop will look at technique & style required to obtain the character/affect of the different dance types.

Barocke Gruppenchoreograhien, für erfahrene Tänzer
Erarbeitet werden 2 verschiedene Tänze, choreographiert von Philippa Waite, ausgewählt aus unterschiedlichen Tanzrhythmen wie Rigaudon, Gigue, Passepied, Sarabande und Menuett zur Musik von beliebten barocken Komponisten wie Telemann, Muffat, Campra und Purcell. Der Workshop untersucht die Technik und den Stil, die nötig sind, um den Charakter der verschiedenen Tänze umzusetzen.
